New Club Wide
Curriculum Announced

Apex SC announces the adoption of a club wide curriculum starting March 2010. The curriculum has been used the last few years by select teams and has proven a huge success in age appropriate development of players. Below is a basic outline of the club wide curriculum.

"The curriculum creates clear objective assessments for the players and coaches that guide the training and development of the players with checks and balances to ensure that players are receiving and mastering the fundamental skill sets appropriate for that age and level. Each player is assessed and given very clear feedback in a portfolio that outlines strengths and development areas and then sets goals for them to achieve until the next assessment a few months later.

On the team side the curriculum challenges the team to understand tactically the goals of the group and gives the players transparent expectations that focus on development for long term success of the program."

Coaching Consistency
  • All coaches teach technically & tactically based on the same club standards
  • All coaches use same language and measurements to assess progress
  • Coaches have direct cross assessment of their team with other teams in club & opponents
  • All coaches have the same team and player development expectations
Individual Player Development
  • Individual players clearly understand expectations for practice and games
  • Fundamental technical ability and team tactics are stressed and based on building block system
  • Long term individual development is the focus
  • Individual progress is recorded through objective assessments
  • Players receive portfolios with player progression updates 3 times per year
Team Development
  • Curriculum challenges players to focus on team tactics and play
  • Team goals are clearly stated and are not score board based
  • Curriculum creates short term goals to develop teams for long term success
